VINTAGE - SCHMUCK

Als VINTAGE bezeichnet man Schmuck, der von ca 1920 bis 1980 gestaltet wurde.

Seit 30 Jahren sammle ich vintage Modeschmuck, vorwiegend aus den USA. Ursprungs war es der Strass-Schmuck, der mich interessierte, zunehmend aber entwickelte sich eine Leidenschaft für "Plastikschmuck" ausgehend von dem alten Zelluloid- und Bakelit-Schmuck.

Jeder amerikanischer Designer von A bis Z ist bei ETCETERA zu finden, sei es Trifari, Coro, Miriam Haskell oder Eisenberg, so wie auch Elsa Schiaparelli, Coco Chanel, Coppola e Toppo u.a.

Bakelit-Schmuck ist eine Spezialität von ETCETERA; wir haben eine große Auswahl an Armreifen, Ketten und Ohrclips aus USA.

Eine ganz besonders interessante Schmuckrichtung ist der Galalith-Schmuck, davon habe ich eine Kollektion von raren Stücken signiert Guillemette L'Hoir und Isadora de Paris.

In einem in 2010 in USA erschienenen Buch "Warman's Jewelry: Identification and Price Guide" von Kathy Flood habe ich 9 Beiträge geschrieben, u.a auch über Guillemette L'Hoir.

WARMAN'S JEWELRY GUIDE

VINTAGE CHANEL

CHANEL vintage NECKLACE, cruise collection 1988, HUGE, goldtone, curb chain, authentic, box.
SPECIAL, very special - an original Coco Chanel necklace from the eighties. Cartouche reads Chanel 2 CC 7 made in France..... Research and advice from those knowledgeable in all things Chanel have revealed that the 27 means the summer collection of 1988.
Necklace consists of one length of huge curb chain and another of gigantic hollow gold plated round beads.
48 cm long including a 6 cm extender chain, so you can adjust it to 42 cm in length. 18.90" long, extender is 2.36", smallest size to wear is 16.54"
It has been loved and worn; wear is visible IF you look CLOSELY. Some of the links of the chain have areas when the gold is rubbed.... BUT on your neck, this is not at all visible. You really have to look hard to find it, with a loupe.
The overall effect is perfection.
What a FABULOUS necklace.
There is also a plastic hangtag, I have no idea if that is original to the piece.
The original box is pretty dilapidated, the lid is broken, the lining is loose, the bottom padding is missing, but it goes with the necklace.
This is a tremendous piece. So many Chanel items are dainty, small and not very pizzazzy. This has it all. Panache and oomph - couldn't get much bigger than this!

MIRIAM HASKELL jewelry - Miriam Haskell established her Miriam Haskell Company in New York City in 1926. From the outset, her handcrafted floral-themed costume jewelry was a hit with the stylish women of Manhattan, who adored her intricate necklaces, bracelets, earrings and brooches. Haskell loved gilt findings and filigree, faux pearls, Austrian crystal beads, Murano glass and, above all, rose montées. Today her jewelry is exceedingly collectible.

    Jakob Bengel - a bit of history.

    "Factory of chains and metal parts’, but Bengel was more than that. Oberstein was once a proud and prosperous town, with more than thirty factories along the river Nahe. All specialized in metal
    goods. At some point some thirty percent of the world production of chains came from Oberstein. The Bengel factory discovered a profitable market in the nineteenth century: watch chains for the
    emerging middle class. No gold or silver, but nice steel chains, necklaces and decorative chatelaines. All kinds of
    wearable ornaments saw the light in hundreds of variations. The factory is now owned by a foundation that works with volunteers, such as the unemployed Herr Rivinius. He guides us through the
    machine rooms and the very likeable museum. Some jewels on view, made for the fashion shows of Coco Chanel, were crafted in the Bengel factory. And of course there are some jewelry pieces from
    the famous Art Deco collection. A very interesting story. The collection was designed and conceived in the thirties in complete anonymity, especially for Paris customers such as the famous stores
    Lafayette and La Samaritaine. Guide Rivinius: “For understandable reasons, German products were not so popular in other European countries during those years. Therefore Bengel made them
    anonymously so that the buyers could release and sell them under their own name”.This is something people in Oberstein now regret a tad, the name Bengel missed the chance of becoming a world

JAKOB BENGEL SCHMUCK

Bis 1920 war die 1873 von Jakob Bengel gegründete Firma Bengel spezialisiert auf die Herstellung von Uhrenketten und Chatelaines (Anhänger an Taschenuhren). In den 1920er und 1930er Jahren avancierte sie zu einem der führenden Hersteller von Modeschmuck im Stil des Art Déco. An Stelle von Schmucksteinen verwandte man dabei den Kunststoff Galalith. Das Deutsche Museum in München widmete den Erzeugnissen der Firma Bengel 2004 eine Ausstellung.

Die Herstellung wurde Ende des 20. Jahrhunderts umgestellt auf Schmuckketten aller Art und Art-Deco-Produkte. Die Gebäude sind in eine Stiftung eingegangen und beherbergen ein Industriemuseum. Gezeigt wird die Entwicklung der mechanischen Produktion des Unternehmens (von 1870 bis 1990), die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung, Sozialstruktur und Arbeitsbedingungen. Die Maschinenhalle beherbergt 40 zum Teil selbst gebaute und 100 Jahre alte Kettenmaschinen. Wikipedia

VINTAGE Langani Ketten, ca 90er Jahre.

Die Swatch DADA ZUERI ist ein sehr seltenes Special, mit großer aufwendiger Sonderverpackung. Die Uhr wurde zur Neu-Eröffnung des DADA Museums in Zürich herausgegeben. Das Design der Uhr und der Sonderverpackung sind der gleichnamigen Kunstrichtung Dadaismus nachempfunden. Weltweit gibt es nur genau 8590 Stück dieses Specials. Die Uhr selbst ist eine Turn-Over, d.h. man kann das Gehäuse umklappen, damit das Zifferblatt geschützt ist. Sie ist wasserdicht und besitzt ein ganggenaues Quarzuhrwerk.
